Rev. John Lucy comes to UCU for book launch. One of our old friends, Rev. John H.D. Lucy (former pastor at Jericho UMC), just published Seminarians Don't Blow Stuff Up: Reflections on a Pastor's Becoming. The book is an inside look at seminary life with a target audience of prospective seminarians (to temper expectations), but also for any and all lay persons. What actually happens in seminary? Is it a holy, hallowed institution of learning? What can we learn from seminary that can apply to how we live well together in our church families? Ultimately, the hope is that pastors and lay persons can develop a deeper, more authentic and genuine relationship with one another by accepting our humanness and limitations, and trusting in God together.
